The
Prayer Shawl Ministry
was begun in 1998 by Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo, two
graduates of the 1997 Women's Leadership Institute at The
Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Connecticut. For more
information, check out

A
Prayer Shawl
is a
tangible sign of the love and prayers of those making the
shawls as well as the community that prays over them. The
shawls are made prayerfully, blessed with the prayers of our
community and then given to those who are in need of
prayers.
Prayer
Shawls
are given to console those who are suffering in some way -
physically, mentally or spiritually and they are
given in celebration of blessings such as baptism,
confirmation, or marriage.
The
Prayer Shawl Ministry of St. Mary/St. Frances Cabrini Parish
was begun on November 14, 2009 by a gathering of 14 members
of our Prayer Chain as well as those wishing to begin the
shawl ministry. It is open to anyone. If you do not know
how to knit/crochet/quilt/loom, volunteer teachers are
available at our gatherings each month. (See meeting dates
listed below)
The
Dedication of the
Prayer Shawl Ministry took place on Sunday, January
24, 2010 at the 11am Mass at St. Frances Cabrini Church– see
the dedication booklet link below as well as pictures. More
than two dozen shawls were blessed at the dedication and all
were distributed within days.
While
Prayer Shawls are never sold, monetary donations to the
ministry as well as donations of yarn are gratefully
accepted.
If
you would like to request a Prayer Shawl for someone, please
