Karen was born in Conneaut on
December 16, 1966. She attended St. Frances Cabrini
School and graduated from Conneaut High School in 1985.
Her experiences with family and friends during this time
left Karen with an endearing love of her hometown.
Karen loved children and
chose to become a teacher. In 1990, she graduated with
honors from Kent State University with a degree in early
childhood education. That same year, Karen was married
and lived in Sandusky where she taught kindergarten in
the Huron City School District.
While living in Sandusky,
Karen attended Ashland University to obtain a master of
education degree.
Karen was committed to
returning home to Conneaut to be close to family and
friends. She came back to Conneaut in 1993 and began
teaching preschool in the Conneaut Schools, spending
time at Lakeview Elementary and Southeast Elementary.
Karen was dedicated to be the best teacher possible and
to improving the quality of her students' lives. She
applied that same passion and dedication as an active
citizen of Conneaut, becoming engaged in the community
in an effort to make Conneaut an even better place to
live.
Karen died unexpectedly on
September 24, 1995. Her passion and commitment to
family, friends, education and community are her legacy
and the cornerstones of Karing Ways Preschool.
